“Observation of superdiffusive phonon transport in aligned atomic chains” published in Nature Nanotechnology was selected as a VINSE spotlight publication.
Ӱԭ the author: earned his Ph.D. in Ӱԭ Mechanical Engineering in May 2019 under the direction of Dr. Deyu Li. Lin studied the transport, conversion, and storage of heat energy from a microscopic perspective, which lays the foundation of developing functional thermal materials and devices for a sustainable future. In recently published work, he experimentally observed one-dimensional phonon induced superdiffusive transport phenomena in aligned atomic chains of ultra-thin NbSe3 nanowires. This unravels a fundamentally new avenue to manipulate phonon transport in order to create a novel type of high thermal conductivity materials. Lin is now a postdoc researcher at Lawrence Berkeley Lab in Dr. Ravi Prasher research group.
